Velo NB to Provide Details on 2022 Canada Games Program / Velo NB fournira des détails sur le programme des Jeux du Canada 2022
Velo NB is inviting interested parties to attend an information session on October 7th at 7 P.M. This session will provide all cyclists who are interested in learning about the program a chance to hear from Velo NB, as well as the leadership we have in place to lead the team.
Over the course of 2021 we’ve been formulating plans to assist athletes in preparation for the games in the Niagara Region. This information session will give the chance for athletes to hear of those plans, and see our vision going forward. We hope all interested parties can attend.

Velo NB invite les personnes intéressées à assister à une séance d’information qui aura lieu le 7 octobre à 19 h. Cette séance permettra à tous les cyclistes désireux de se renseigner sur le programme d’entendre parler de Velo NB, ainsi que des dirigeants que nous avons mis en place pour diriger l’équipe.
Au cours de l’année 2021, nous avons élaboré des plans pour aider les athlètes à se préparer aux Jeux dans la région de Niagara. Cette séance d’information donnera l’occasion aux athlètes de prendre connaissance de ces plans et de voir notre vision de l’avenir. Nous espérons que toutes les parties intéressées pourront y assister.
Avec le redémarrage des courses de VTT et de route en juillet 2021 dans le Canada atlantique, nous sommes très enthousiastes à l’idée de relancer le processus de sélection des équipes des Jeux du Canada pour 2022, il sera important pour tous les candidats d’assister à cette prochaine réunion d’information.

May Advocacy Update
After meeting with Ministers Ted Flemming and Tammy Scott Wallace in March, follow-up meetings in Saint John with MLAs Trevor Holder and Glen Savoie and numerous emails to Saint John and Fredericton area MLAs the New Brunswick Cycling Coalition is pleased to announce that the New Brunswick Government will;
Start a “Share the Road” campaign on Facebook and Twitter commencing mid-May. The program will highlight critical dates such as end of school in June, and back to school dates.
Will update a 2011 New Brunswick Driver’s Handbook which is available online with references to EllensLaw which became law in 2017.
NB Public Safety will begin working with the NB Cycling Coalition over the summer to review the NB Motor Vehicle Act’s bicycling safety articles as compared to other provinces and identify recommendations for the governments consideration this fall in modernizing the Act for the safety of all road users.
Thank you to the core group of cyclists Stephen Marr, Gary Crowley, Nick Cameron, Brian Gillis and Nancy Watters who volunteer their time and energy to improve cycling safety in our province. 2022 Canada Games Update
Velo NB is searching for qualified individuals to lead the Mountain Bike Team for the 2022 Canada Games in the Niagara Region.
Our previously announced coach, Jane Mckeown has had to step down as she takes on an increased leadership role with Special Olympics NB. Jane continues her role with Velo NB as chair of Coaching Development.
We are looking for an individual to fill the Coach position. Details are posted below.
Interested parties should provide a letter of intent indicating the position you are offering for. Please include current roles and responsibilities in the cycling community along with past experience to executivedirector@velo.nb.ca by February 26th, 2021.
With the postponement of the games to 2022, the CGC Sport Committee continues to work closely with Cycling Canada in order to make a determination on age categories, and we expect a decision to be announced early this year.

Avec le report des jeux en 2022, le comité sportif de JCC continue à travailler en étroite collaboration avec Cycling Canada afin de déterminer les catégories d’âge, et nous espérons qu’une décision sera annoncée au début de cette année.
