May Update

As the COVID-19 situation continues, Velo NB has had to review the status of events and programming in the province.

We are following the public health authorities recommendations, and reviewing the information that is provided to us from Cycling Canada. In order to minimize the transmission of the virus, and reduce pressure on all involved in the sport of cycling, Velo NB is recommending that all cycling events on the calendar be postponed or cancelled up until July 5th.

We have communicated this information to event organizers, and are working with them to reschedule events. The event calendar will continue to be updated with new information as it becomes available.

As the situation progress’, Velo NB will reassess the situation for events happening after July 5th when more information is available to us. We have open lines of communication with various health and sport authorities and work in partnership to support cycling

We ask clubs and organizations to follow suit with suspension of large group activities at this time as well. The situation continues to evolve, organized group rides and activities can place many different individuals at risk. Social distancing, household bubbles, proper sanitizing are challenges that groups of cyclists face at this time.

For those using your local trails, please respect all restrictions that are in place. They maybe from the province, municipality, or from the trail builders themselves. We know that people are ready to ride but the impacts of riding at this time in spring conditions, can damage the trails that you love to ride. Trail builders from around the province spend many hours building and preparing them, and your cooperation is important at this time. You can find a list of clubs in your area here for more information.

We understand that this decision will affect upcoming programming such as Canada Games preparations. The working committee is reviewing documentation, and the status of events and training camps at this time. Velo NB will be in direct communications with those involved in the programs in order to provide information and make arrangements as needed.
